ECP teams take down oversized banners

Officials ask parties to follow code of conduct

KARACHI:

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) monitoring teams took action on serious violations of election code of conduct and banners and posters found larger than the prescribed size for the local government (LG) election campaign due on July 24.

The ECP teams also took down posters and banners of political parties placed on government buildings and poles. The monitoring officers of ECP also issued a final warning to candidates of different political parties.

District Monitoring Officer (DMO) Naveed Aziz along with the officials of district administration in various areas of central district including Liaquatabad, New Karachi and Nazimabad removed penaflex banners placed on government buildings by candidates of political parties on all major roads and streets and various neighborhoods. Naveed Aziz also issued a warning to the candidates of various parties for violating election rules.

During election campaign of political parties for NA-245 in District East, the prohibited giant size banners and campaigning materials displayed on public buildings, poles, and pedestrian bridges were taken down.

DMO Aamir Shah visited Soldier Bazar, Pakistan Quarters, PIB, Jahangir Road, Lines Area, PECHS, Tariq Road along with concerned officials and took down oversized prohibited under his supervision.

On the instructions of DMO Malir Ahsan Altaf, district administration took down the prohibited size banners of PPP, Muslim League-N, Jamaat-e-Islami, PTI candidates in Quaidabad, Malir, Jafar Tayar, Khaldabad, Bhaines Colony, Steel Town. The monitoring officers of the Election Commission have issued instructions to the political parties that under the code of conduct, the candidates cannot organise a car rally.

DMO District South Arun Kumar has instructed the local body candidates of all parties to strictly follow the prevailing rules during the election campaign. DMO South District also removed banners and flags of political parties from government buildings and polls.

The monitoring officers of the Election Commission have issued instructions to the political parties that under the code of conduct, the candidates cannot organise a car rally.
