Family, relatives, community members stage protest outside Zardari House, demand Kareena's recovery

A Hindu girl has allegedly been abducted and converted to Islam in Kazi Ahmed, the home district of former president Asif Ali Zardari.

Family, relatives and community members also staged a protest outside Zardari House and demanded to recover their girl.

Kareena, 16, was abducted on July 6. "She was converted on the same day and was married to a Muslim man Khaliquz Zamaan," said Lajpat, the relative of the girl. Speaking to The Express Tribune, he said that the FIR was registered against the kidnaper but police did not take any action.

He said that the family also tried to approach local influential persons to help them recover their girl.

"During the protest we were assured about the action and they (police) also assured us our meeting with Zardari sahib," Lalchand, a protestor, told The Express Tribune. He alleged that the police was not serious to address issues Hindu community was facing.

Lajpat said that the father of the girl was a cook and a poor man. "He seems helpless now, he added. He appealed the law enforcement agencies to support the family.

According to the FIR, Kareena was abducted by Khaliquz Zamaan along with his father. It said that the kidnapers barged into thier home and abducted the girl.
