Rs240b earmarked for South Punjab uplift
Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) South Punjab Saqib Zafar said on Thursday that Rs240 billion was allocated for over 2,000 uplift schemes in South Punjab during the new financial year.
He was chairing the Annual Development Programme (ADP) review meeting. Funding was allocated for 1,548 ongoing and 443 new uplift projects. He directed all secretaries to ensure completion of the projects within the stipulated time and with full utilization of the released funds. The ACS further directed them to take strict action on complaints regarding the quality of the projects and to follow government guidelines.
He added that the pace of completing development projects remained excellent in the last financial year, when Rs181 billion out of Rs186 billion, or 97%, of fund released for projects were spent. While briefing ACS South, officials informed him that 541 projects in Multan, 439 projects in Bahawalpur and 502 projects in DG Khan were included in fiscal year 2022-23.
They added that Rs125 million was allocated for the Jehangirabad Multan sewerage project and Rs1.59 billion was allocated to upgrade the WASA Multan mechanical system.
