LAYYAH:

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz said on Wednesday the time had come to put progress and development of the country in the top gear and engage the reverse gear on the inflation and price hike.

Addressing a public gathering in Layyah, the PML-N vice president said that former prime minister Imran Khan never reduced the fuel prices but he only emptied the national kitty by freezing the prices of petrol and diesel on seeing that his government was going.

“We owe a debt of service to the people and we will never disappoint the masses,” Maryam Nawaz, daughter of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif told the gathering, held in connection with the upcoming by-elections in Punjab.

She mocked the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chariman Imran Khan by calling him Fitna (mischief) Khan. She that Nawaz Sharif had planned schemes for Punjab’s welfare but Fitna Khan planned destruction of Punjab.

“Nawaz Sharif gave the country a major investment project,” she said, referring to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). “Fitna” Khan established “GPEC — the Gogi-Pinky economic corridor”, she added, alluding to Imran’s family friend Farah Khan.

She alleged that the PTI government, which came to power on the slogan of ending corruption, plundered the country and impoverished it. “Imran was only focused on converting his residence [in] Bani Gala [Islamabad] into a ‘money gala’,” she alleged.

“He [Imran Khan] kept on robbing Punjab through his family. She accused Farah Khan of destroying Punjab. “People are well aware of Fitna Khan, who wreaked havoc in the province,” the PML-N vice president added.

“Imran Khan! The people of Pakistan were crying when you were in power. Now you cry because it is payback time. The nation knows who is to be held accountable for creating mess in the country,” she charged.

Regarding the news that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has asked the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to submit a summary regarding reducing the price of petroleum products in line with a decline in the international market, Maryam said: “Good days are coming.”

The PML-N leader announced that no electricity bills will be received by all those who consume less than 100 units of electricity. “I will not sit peacefully until people of Layyah are living a peaceful life,” she said.

Commenting on the upcoming by-elections, she asserted that “lions will roar on July 17 in Punjab as the PML-N will contest against rising inflation brought by a jackal”. She added that her party’s candidates were contesting against unemployment, corruption and incompetence.
