Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued a high alert on Friday, ahead of heavy rain forecast during the Eidul Azha holidays.
According to PDMA sources, all provincial emergency centres and PDMA district emergency centres will be put on alert during the Eid holidays.
The PDMA also directed all departments concerned to remain active, for the safety of lives and property of people.
Additionally, citizens have been urged to avoid throwing waste or the hides of sacrificial animals into sewer lines or manholes as it could chock the drainage system and contribute to urban flooding.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department forecast heavy rains from July 9 to 12 across the country, as a strong system of monsoon is expected to enter the country from Saturday.
Heavy rain with thunderstorms is expected in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Faisalabad and Lahore divisions, which could cause landslides in Murree and flooding in the drains and streams of the aforementioned areas.
