Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Syed Aminul Haque has emphasised the need for forming a joint working group with Turkmenistan for the promotion of information and communication technology (ICT) sector.
He made the remarks in a meeting with Turkmenistan Ambassador Atadjan Movlamov on Wednesday.
The minister said tripartite cooperation could be enhanced by using the optic fibre cable via Afghanistan.
Haque said that Pakistani freelancers’ access to Turkmenistan’s market would be helpful in promoting ICT. “Turkmenistan can benefit from the services of Pakistani experts in software, cyber security, data protection, gaming and animation,” he said.
“Turkmenistan’s companies can use Pakistan as a digital gateway for international access.”
The ambassador of Turkmenistan said Pakistan and Turkmenistan had strong brotherly relations and cooperation in the ICT sector would enhance ties between the two countries.
He lauded the performance of the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication.
Recently, the freelancers and digital marketers urged the government to make freelancing economy part of the national agenda to increase their footprint in the global market and give a boost to the foreign exchange reserves.
They sought the backing of the government and wanted it to incorporate their input into the freelancing policy in a bid to tap the full potential of the global freelancing market, which would help to repay the country’s loans.
The total market for the freelancers has been reported at $1.5 trillion.
