Three women die in North Waziristan flooding
Torrential rains and subsequent flash floods killed at least three women in North Waziristan tribal district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Wednesday.
Many more have been left injured while machinery and equipment worth millions of rupees were swept away due to high flooding in Tochi River and district nullahs.
Local residents told The Express Tribune that a heavy rainfall was received across the district after which all the streams, nullahs and the main Tochi River were overflowing.
They said that at last three women drowned in the flooded streams and mud houses suffered severe damage.
“Our agricultural lands have also been swept away by the river, causing us millions of rupees losses,” they said, adding that there was high flood in Kurram River, Kitho River and Tochi River after a long time.
“Three Afghan women who crossed the border into Pakistan for treatment were swept away by the flood in a nullah. Many people were rescued by Rescue 1122 teams in Tochi River,” they added.
