With the advent of Eid ul Azha, City Traffic Police Rawalpindi has formulated a comprehensive traffic plan to maintain the flow of traffic in Murree. Since it’s a tourist destination, tourists from all over the country arrive there on Eid holidays.
A total of 360 traffic police officers have been ordered to stay on duty. A control room has also been set up to monitor traffic. Around 8,000 vehicles will be allowed to enter daily during these Eid holidays.
According to the reports, during monsoon season, the weather in Murree becomes very pleasant. Due to this, large numbers of tourists, from all over the country turn to Murree for sightseeing and enjoyment.
Keeping in mind the horrible tragedy that took place last winter, only a fixed number of tourist vehicles are allowed to enter Murree and Galiyat during the peak seasons.
Sharing details Chief Traffic Officer Rawalpindi, Naveed Irshad, said that more than 360 traffic police personnel have been deployed in Murree during the Eid holidays. Additional lifters and cranes have also been provided to eliminate illegal vehicle parking and to provide timely assistance in case of any unforeseen calamity. A control room has also been set up to provide timely assistance and guidance to tourists.
CTO Rawalpindi claimed that Murree has a parking capacity of about 3,500 vehicles. He stated that keeping in view the district administration's orders; more than 8,000 vehicles will not be allowed to enter Murree per day. Vehicle count will take place and tickets will be checked at all entrances and exits of Murree. Moreover, only efficient vehicles with licensed drivers will be allowed to enter the city.
Chief Traffic Officer, Naveed Irshad, further stated that awareness pamphlets would also be distributed among tourists on all entrances and major highways of Murree.
