RAWALPINDI:

At least 291 Post Graduate Trainee (PGS) doctors at Holy Family Hospital, the largest government hospital in the city, have not been paid their salaries for two consecutive months.

On Tuesday, The Young Doctors Association (YDA) recorded their protests on relevant forums.

Sources said that payment of salaries to the doctors could not be made due to the non-receipt of budget to the hospital from the health department. However, trainee doctors deprived of salaries were assured that they would get their salaries after Eidul Azha. Instructions were also issued to the late paid doctors to resume their work till the payment of salaries.

It is reported that trainees doctors serving in various departments of the Holy Family Hospital have not been able to get their salaries for two months due to laziness of administration and accounts branch on which doctors have also recorded their protest through their representative organisation, the Young Doctors Association (YDA). However, doctors have been assured that they would get their salaries after Eid.

YDA President Dr Shafi Niazi said trainee doctors perform their duties with diligence and they work in important departments yet they are not paid for two months and some for three months.
