KARACHI:

A man found injured in semi-conscious condition in the mangrove forest adjacent to Mai Kolachi Road in the Docks police station area turned out to be a blackmailer, police said.

Ramzan Muhamamd Din, a resident of Patoki, Punjab, was found dumped in the thicket with cuts by a sharp instrument on his body. He had told the police that his second wife and her friend got him kidnapped.

However, when the police questioned Din, they found discrepancy in statements every time they asked the same questions. Finally, when the cops of Docks police station - a notorious precinct plagued by all sorts of crime and trafficking due to vicinity of the port - got down to their real tactics, Din started talking real fast.

Docks police claimed that Din, is a resident of Patoki, Punjab, injured himself after getting an injection, inflicted cuts on various parts of his body, and sewed his lips. The injured man and his family have registered a kidnapping case against their opponents at Patoki Saddar Police Station. Din, who had come to Karachi after a fight with his family, was living with a friend in Baldia Town.

As per police investigation, he had planned to extract considerable amount of money from his family by sending them his pictures in injured condition.

For that purpose, Din and his accomplice Arif recorded a video at the beach near Native Jetty and sent it to his family along with the location. Police have also arrested Arif.

The Docks police are in touch with Patoki police and will hand over Din, the alleged abductee, to Patoki police.
