Covid vaccination stepped up amid fresh surge in cases

Citizens continue to ignore coronavirus SOPs, increasing the risk of contracting the lethal virus

The Rawalpindi health department has stepped up vaccination in the wake of the resurgence of the fifth wave of coronavirus in the district.

Citizens have completely abandoned following coronavirus SOPs, increasing the risk of contracting the lethal virus again.

A total of 18 coronavirus-positive cases were reported in the Rawalpindi district during the last 24 hours with a positivity rate of 1.80 per cent. Currently, two patients are being treated in hospitals while 149 have been isolated in homes.

Health officials said that of the 18 Covid-19 positive patients, eight hailed from Potohar Town, six from Rawal Town and three from Taxila.

According to health officials, so far 6,943,222 people have been vaccinated against the coronavirus. So far, coronavirus 43,376 were reported in the district and of them, 41,889 patients have recovered. So far 1,335 people have died of the coronavirus in the district.
