The police and security forces on Friday foiled an attempt by a group of militants to enter North Waziristan from the Afghan border and killed three terrorists in a gunfight.
A statement issued by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Bannu region claimed that the police and security forces had received intelligence that a group of terrorists would attempt to cross the border.
“Since they were hardcore and dangerous terrorists who were wanted by the CTD in the murder of traffic wardens, a contingent of security forces and CTD was sent to intercept them,” a CTD official said, adding that they belonged to ISIS-Khorasan.
“They were intercepted which resulted in exchange of fire between the two parties. After a gunfight, the terrorists retreated back towards the safety of Afghanistan, leaving behind three dead bodies,” he added.
“The dead have been identified as ISIS Commander Saeedullah, resident of Afghanistan; Talha, resident of Khyber; and Mustaqeem, resident of Nowshera,” he said.
They were wanted by the police in many cases of terrorism.
