‘Modern technology to help curb street crimes’
Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Rao Sardar Ali Khan has said effective policing coupled with modern technology should be used to curb street and heinous crimes in all districts across province including Lahore.
He directed the field officers to investigate cases of ransom, murder, rape and other serious crimes to their logical conclusion.
The IG Punjab said those involved in sexual harassment, acid throwing and violence against women and children should be severely punished.
Rao Sardar Ali Khan directed to expedite awareness campaign against prevention of gender crime, timely reporting and saving youth from curse of drugs with effective collaboration of parents and civil society.
He said the code of conduct of the Election Commission should be implemented across Punjab and non-discriminatory action should be taken against those violating code of conduct during by-elections.
Khan further said fool-proof security of foreigners working in Punjab especially Chinese nationals is one of the top priorities of Punjab Police.
He stressed upon strict security of residences, offices and working sites of Chinese nationals.
The IGP said that timely steps should be taken to prevent incidents of cattle theft near Eidul Azha and better arrangements should be made for security in cattle markets and traffic in the vicinity.
“An effective plan should be formulated for patrolling of Dolphin, Peru and other patrolling forces in the vicinity of cattle markets.”
