KARACHI:

Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi Talk Show Committee held a function to launch Rahat Zahid's poetry collection Abhi Thehro at Haseena Moin Hall which was presided over by Dr Fatima Hassan.

Ghulam Muhammad Memon, Shakeel Jafri, Shaista Mufti Farrukh, Salman Siddiqui spoke while Shakeel Khan performed the duties of moderator.

On this occasion, renowned poet Dr Fatima Hassan said that" Rahat Zahid has started and ended his collection of poems. What an unorthodox expression. Rahat Zahid has a sensitive heart and mind, his sensitivity is disturbed by the surrounding situations and events which is expressed in his poems here and there. The poem written on the murder of Naseem Jameel is very heart touching, similarly, the poem Maslehat Ka Nagar exposes hypocritic attitudes of the society."

Hassan said "Zahid has used metaphors beautifully in his ghazals. The poet has steadfastly followed the path he has chosen in poetry. Zahid has introduced Pakistani culture and literature in Scotland in terms of practical journalism and literary creation. The role he has played in introducing Urdu language to the readers has been appreciated at the diplomatic level as well."

Shaista Mufti said that Rahat's poetry is a breath of fresh air. "He has recited ghazals as well as poems." Mufti said that Zahid is a poet whose words show that she is not ignorant of the world, her canvas is very wide.

Shakeel Jafari while expressing his views said that Rahat Zahid's poetry reflects humility. Adding that the poems on mother and poems on the title of daughter are admirable, he said that it is important to do such poetry in this day and age. Ghulam Mohammad Momin said that Rahat Zahid's collection is based on positive and negative trends.

Poet Rahat Zahid thanked Mohammad Ahmed Shah and his team for organizing the event.

"I want to convey my message to others through poetry. I love my country Pakistan very much" said the poet.
