Actor Ushna Shah came to her friend, actor Minal Khan’s rescue against online trolling after the latter trended on social media for ripping off Kylie Jenner’s breakfast picture and masking it as her own.
Highlighting the consequences of online bullying, Shah reminded people of how their words affected late Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain, and she also pointed out the cyclical hypocrisy of people brutally picking on Khan right after condemning bullying post Hussain’s death.
Taking a stand for the Nand actor, Shah wrote that the society, as a unit, decided to abandon hateful activities after realising its harmful impact on someone’s life. Disappointed, she further lamented how words didn’t turn into actions and bullying still persists.
“Pakistan bullies Aamir Liaquat, Aamir Liaquat dies. Pakistan: let's never bully again. Some days later: They bully Minal” read the caption.
On Monday morning, Khan posted an aesthetic picture of “her own” breakfast. Within minutes, social media users pointed out her lazy effort at stealing pictures by sharing both pictures side by side – revealing that Khan actually just cropped the American reality TV star’s name from the picture.
Being an influencer and actor with a major following and copying another celebrity of a greater following, netizens didn’t know “whether to laugh or get appalled at this audacity.” Social media users resorted to memes and humour to point out how it’s her “fetish to look elite.” A user seriously questioned if Khan thinks people in Pakistan do not follow Jenner for her to pull something like that.
