CS assures of filtered drinking water for city

World Bank agrees to work on water, sewerage projects in rural areas

Chief Secretary Sindh Dr Muhammad Sohail Rajput has said that every drop of water supplied to the city would be filtered to ensure a clean water supply to the citizens.

He said this while presiding over an important meeting of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Services Improvement Project (KWSSIP) Steering Committee at Sindh Secretariat on Wednesday.

The meeting was briefed on water supply and sewerage improvement projects in Karachi.

At the conference, Chief Secretary Sindh Dr Muhammad Sohail Rajput said that the Sindh government was working to rehabilitate Karachi's water and sanitation infrastructure.

He further said that water supply and sewerage system improvement projects are being implemented in Karachi for $1.6 billion in collaboration with World Bank and Asian Investment Bank (AIIB).

While briefing the forum, Project Director Syed Salahuddin Ahmed said that priority Sewerage and Water lines are being replaced in Karachi. K-IV augmentation work shall bring the water supply into the city centre.

Around 250 system and feedback meters would be installed to gauge the water distribution in Karachi.

World Bank delegations called CS Sindh and discussed KWSSIP and agreed to work on water and sewerage projects in rural areas with $300 million.
