Neetu Kapoor is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film Jugjugg Jeeyo, co-starring Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani and Anil Kapoor. Helmed by Raj Mehta, the film will mark her comeback to the silver screen after the death of her husband, veteran actor Rishi Kapoor.

Since the film revolves around marriage and divorce, the actor was asked during one of her recent interviews about how her son Ranbir Kapoor is balancing his relationships after tying the knot with Alia Bhatt. Neetu, who can’t get enough of sharing how happy she is for Ranbir, shared that her relationship with Alia will be a reflection of the relationship she had with her mother-in-law. She called the Gangubai Kathiawadi star a “lovely, beautiful, simple and uncorrupted human being,” according to the Indian Express.

"I feel a strained relationship between a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law is the husband’s fault,” she shared. “Because you love your mother so much. But the problem arises when you become joru ka gulaam, then the mother will have issues. If you learn to strike a balance between your love for your mother and your wife, it is always nicer," added Neetu.

When asked if she gives any marital advice to Ranbir and Alia, she said that these days nobody listens to you and it is better to stay away from advising.

In another interview with NDTV, the actor revealed that before signing Jugjugg Jeeyo, she consulted her son and daughter-in-law. She also revealed that when Karan Johar offered her the film, she was in a bad place emotionally and it was Ranbir who encouraged her to resume working.

“The script was so good. Even in that state of mind, what I was going through, I was stunned at how well it was written. The scenes were beautiful, the dialogues were so powerful, I said I'm doing it. It was so lovely. It's the script that draws you, everybody was drawn towards the script," Neetu shared.

Asked if she often consults her family before taking on roles, Neetu quipped how it is usually the other way around – Ranbir and Alia take her advice. But she ended up consulting them before saying yes to Jugjugg Jeeyo. Produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, Jugjugg Jeeyo is slated to hit the theatres on June 24, 2022.
