QUETTA:

Speakers at a public meeting organised by the Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) have paid rich tribute to former senator Usman Khan Kakar.

The party observed the first death anniversary of Kakar on Tuesday.

“Usman Khan sacrificed his life for the supremacy of the constitution and against usurpation of Pashtoon rights,” Mehmood Khan Achakzai, the Central Chairman of PKMAP, told flag-waving supporters at the Hockey Ground in Quetta.

In their speeches, the party leaders lashed out at the rulers for what they called their failure to address the grievances of Pashtoons and other small nationalities living in the country.

They stated that Pashtoons were deprived of their legal and constitutional rights in the country.

“Our struggle will continue for the supremacy of Constitution despite all odds,” Achakzai added, reiterating that there should be no role of intelligence agencies in the political affairs of the country if Pakistan was to be transformed into a strong democracy.

The party workers chanted slogans in support of Kakar and paid rich tributes to him during the public meeting. His portraits were also displayed.

Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, Khushal Khan Kakar, Raza Muhammad Raza, Qahar Wadan and others addressed the public meeting.

In their separate speeches, they said that Kakar was a symbol of democracy and a champion of Pashtoon rights.
