LAHORE:

No sector has been ignored in the budget, but special attention has been paid to human resources development to enable the youth to contribute to the economy of the country by bringing in foreign remittances.

This was stated by provincial minister Sardar Awais Leghari at a post-budget press conference.

He said that areas like artificial intelligence had been identified where youth would be trained to help them find jobs in the international market. Another highlight of the presser was the remodeling of the PTI health card scheme.

Awais said the scope of health cards facility was being extended to the needy and poor people only, and those who did not fall in this bracket would not be able to avail this health card scheme.

An additional amount of Rs52 billion had been fixed for the Universal Health Insurance Scheme by the Punjab government, which was their project launched prior to the PTI government.

He said food shortage was one of the major challenges faced by the country, and to meet this challenge, the Punjab government was ensuring an increase in agricultural production.

The Punjab government had been introducing an integrated solid waste management system across the province.
