Punjab govt spokesperson says no new taxes will be proposed

The Punjab and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments would present their provincial budgets for next fiscal year government in the respective provincial assemblies today, Radio Pakistan reported on Sunday.

A Punjab Finance Department spokesperson said in Lahore that the next fiscal year's budget would focus on pro-poor initiatives and controlling inflation. He added that no new tax would be imposed, while special concessions and incentives given in the past would continue.

In a statement in Lahore, Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz said that no burden would be put on the poor people in the coming budget, adding that steps would be taken to address the difficulties of the common man.

Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would also present the provincial budget for the next fiscal year on Monday. In this regard, the budget session of the provincial assembly would start at 3:00 pm in Peshawar.
