Karachi’s weather turns pleasant due to light rain

Port city to experience the first spell of monsoon rains in the last week of June, reports PMD

Karachi’s weather turned pleasant as the port city experienced light rain in different parts of the metropolis on Saturday night.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), drizzle is expected in the city in the morning and at night. The PMD has also reported that the first spell of monsoon rains in the province’s capital is expected to commence in the last week of June.

Within the next 24 hours, the city’s weather will be hot, humid and partly cloudy, with maximum temperatures rising to 33-35 degrees Celsius.

Sea breeze will continue to blow at a speed of 10 to 30 kmph throughout the day.

The minimum temperature recorded on Sunday was 29 degrees Celsius.

As the city prepares for the onsalught of the monsoon season, Karachi Administrator Barrister Murtaza Wahab stated in May that necessary work in drainage is underway. He assured that locals would not face any issues this year.

Wahab gave these assurances while laying down the foundation stone for the reconstruction of the main road of Shahrah-e- Noorjahan at a cost of Rs1.3 billion.

"The two-lane road will be constructed from Abdullah Girls College to Qalandaria Chowk. The 4.288 km two lane road's width will be 11 metres. Service roads will also be constructed along the main road, while drainage and sewerage systems, as well as street lights, will also be installed," the administrator said.
