Two policemen were killed when an outlaw opened fire at a police mobile in Swabi district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Friday.
Police told The Express Tribune that a police mobile of Chowki Gulabat, Topi police station was on a routine patrol when a criminal Suliman, reportedly a drug addict, opened fire at it.
In the firing police constable Amir Khan was killed on the spot while Assistant Sub-Inspector Yasir Khan was seriously injured. The injured was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. In the return firing the accused Suliman was also killed.
“Suliman was an ice addict and he was reportedly high on drugs. He was unable to think clearly and opened fire at the police vehicle,” said an official of the local police station while talking to The Express Tribune.
Another official said that the accused was wanted to police in six different cases and when he spotted the police mobile, he opened fire at the vehicle in order to avoid arrest.
The last rites of the slain policemen were offered at Swabi Police Lines with full guard of honour.
Later the bodies were sent to their ancestral villages for burial. Talking on the occasion IGP Moazam Jah Ansari said that police had rendered countless sacrifices for the peace of this province.
In a separate incident two policemen were killed in a road accident in Kohistan district when a police mobile went out of the control of the driver and fell into a gorge.
