KARACHI:

Nimrah Kazmi has denied being abducted and a judicial magistrate has allowed her to leave as she pleases.

"I was not abducted," Nimrah said in her confessional statement to the court. The girl reiterated that she married Shahrukh of her own free will.

The latter is the main accused in the 'kidnapping' case of Nimrah.

The case of the alleged kidnapping of Nimrah Kazmi was heard before the magistrate at Karachi City Court.

Advocate Muhammad Farooq, representing Shahrukh, stated that Nimrah was being harassed in a shelter home.

"Nimrah's meals have been stopped and she is not allowed to meet Shahrukh's family," the counsel stated.

The court immediately summoned the investigation officer to the rostrum. It questioned the IO about the ban on meeting Nimrah in the shelter home.

The officer stated there was no such ban, as per the orders of the Sindh High Court.

"Why is Nimrah Kazmi not being allowed to meet her inlaws?" the magistrate questioned.

"Why is she not being provided meals? Is this how girls are treated in a shelter home?"

The IO replied by saying: "To my knowledge, there is no such thing, nor is are any meetings prohibited.

The magistrate, however, was annoyed by the IO's reply and asked why a challan of the case has not been submitted yet.

The officer responded by saying that the sections of the Sindh Child Act have been added in the case and the challan will be submitted after the confessional statement of the girl.

Meanwhile, Shahrukh's counsel asked the IO where the marriage took place.

The officer said that the wedding was took place in Punjab.

Shahrukh's counsel asked that if the marriage took place in Punjab, how could the Sindh Child Protection Act be implemented? "The court also questioned on whose orders provisions of the Sindh Child Protection Act were included.
