Apple's upcoming headset will be released in 2023, while the company is working with Hollywood directors like Jon Favreau to develop audiovisual features in the device.
Favreau was also the excecutive producer of a series on Apple TV+ Prehistoric Planet, and according to New York Times, is "working to bring that show’s dinosaurs to life on the headset, which looks like a pair of ski goggles and aims to offer virtual- and augmented-reality experiences.”
The news report claimed the company is planning to unveil “software tools that would allow apps to add new camera and voice functionality, laying the groundwork for a hands-free interface that customers will eventually be able to navigate on the headset.”
The company hired an engineer from Dolby Technologies, Mike Rockwell, to create the Apple Headset, but due to low computing power the launch of the product was delayed to the next year. The augmented-reality intiative has divided Apple employees, forcing at least two members of the industrial team to leave Apple because of concerns that the new product will change the way people interact with one another.
Recent reports by Bloomberg have also suggested that the headset has already been presented to the board for preview and will launch next year.
