Seven terrorists were killed in two separate intelligence based operations (IBOs) in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province’s Bannu and North Waziristan districts on Sunday, the military said.

"On 5 June 2022, security forces conducted intelligence based operations in Jani Khel, Bannu and Hassan Khel, North Waziristan on [the] reported presence of terrorists," the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

During intense exchange of fire, it added, seven terrorists were killed – five in Jani Khel and two in the North Waziristan district.

The military's military wing further stated that weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorists.

According to the ISPR, those killed remained actively involved in terrorist activities against the security forces.

Concluding, the communiqué said the locals of the area lauded the operations and expressed their full support to eliminate the menace of terrorism.

The operation comes a few days after a Pakistan Army soldier embraced martyrdom following an attack on a check-post by terrorists in North Waziristan.

On Wednesday, the military initiated a prompt response and effectively engaged the terrorists as they fired at the check-post located in the district.

During the intense exchange of fire, Sepoy Hamid Ali, 28, resident of Sargodha having fought gallantly, embraced martyrdom.

Lauding the sacrifices, military said it was "determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism".

Nearly two weeks ago, a soldier was martyred when an army convoy was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED) in the neighbourhood of Makeen, South Waziristan district.
