The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has formed 17 Disaster Risk Reduction Committees in the northern districts of the province to deal with potential flash floods due to melting of glaciers.
Director General PDMA Sharif Hussain said this on Sunday.
PDMA also urged the general public in non-mountainous districts to take precautionary measures to cope up with heatwave as day temperature is likely to increase in most parts of the province from Monday.
People have been advised to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight in peak hours and consume water in good quantity to avoid chances of heatstroke.
Hussain said that 17 disaster risk reduction committees had been formed and citizens should be cautious in view of the heat wave.
Citizens should drink as much water as possible to avoid heatstroke. They need to cover their head with a wet cloth in sunlight. Special care should be taken of senior citizens and children.
