No room for black sheep in police department: IG Sindh

Says protection of life and property prime responsibility of police

The Inspector General of Sindh Police, Ghulam Nabi Memon chaired his first departmental meeting after assuming office as provincial police chief on Saturday.

Top ranking police officers participated attended the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, the IG Sindh said that the solution of people's problems and prevention of crime are the top priorities of police.

He said that black sheep will not be tolerated in the department at all while only reputable police officers will be given important responsibilities.

IG Sindh briefed the Additional IG Karachi, all DIGs and District SSPs in detail about their policy and priorities and also issued further necessary orders.

He said that maintaining peace and order and protecting lives and properties of people are the top priorities and responsibilities of police and any negligence or carelessness in this regard will not be tolerated.

He directed the officers that the process for registration of FIRs on the complaints by the citizens should be made quick and easy.

Speaking on the occasion, IG Sindh said that his doors are always open for all subordinates and they are welcome to share their problems or difficulties with him.

IG Sindh emphasised, motorcycle lifting incidents and other types of street crimes should be curbed using effective strategies, including enhanced patrolling.

He directed the police high-ups to ensure immediate crackdown on groups involved in crimes including drug peddling, sale of gutka and mawa and other oganised crimes.

He ordered compilation of lists of such crimes at the district level through mutual liaison and joint efforts.

The eradication of such crimes should be made practically successful and fruitful, he said, directing further that operational and investigative matters should be streamlined with a joint strategy to improve the efficiency of the investigation.

Liaison with prosecutors should also be ensured in this regard.

Detection of cases and sentencing of the accused by the concerned courts is the primary responsibility of the police.

In this regard, all the necessary matters and measures should be made very concrete and fruitful.

The IG said that he will personally take visits across province to review the performance of police.

IG Sindh also urged on prevention of crimes against women, children and minorities and instructed his subordinates for timely police response and action on any report or complaint in this regard.
