KARACHI:

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) spokesperson on Friday expressed concern over the increase in prices of petroleum products by Rs30 per litre, saying that this increase was a burden on the people.

“These people are being crushed in the mill of inflation day by day,” the spokesperson said in a statement. “In such a situation, further increase in prices is tantamount to dropping petrol bombs.”

The MQM-P spokesperson said that the recent wave of inflation would further reduce Pakistan's per capita income which would push more people below the poverty line.

The spokesperson demanded of the federal government to ensure targeted subsidy as soon as possible and provide subsidy to motorcyclists and public transport on petrol. The spokesperson called upon the economists to give recommendations to the government to get out of this difficult time.
