Police to audit security measures for foreigners
Punjab Police established a Foreign Security Cell at the Central Police Office (CPO) to monitor the security arrangements of foreign nationals. The announcement was made at a video link conference held on Friday and attended by RPOs and DPOs of all the regions and districts.
IG Punjab said that the implementation of Home Department SOPs regarding security of foreign nationals should be ensured in all cases and registration of data on SPU desks at airports is mandatory upon the arrival of every foreign national in Pakistan.
All RPOs and DPOs, including Lahore CCPO, gave briefings on the security arrangements of foreigners. IG Punjab directed officers to regularly audit important installations and important government buildings, as well as to regularly conduct mock exercises.
Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that with foreign nationals working in the private sector, especially Chinese, negligence is unacceptable in the registration at the SPU desk and arrangements should be made for the security of foreign nationals from the airport itself.
IG Punjab directed that all supervisory officers should regularly inspect the residences and workplaces of foreign nationals. He further added that private companies providing drivers, guards and other staff to foreign nationals should be scrutinised, so that they do not face any hassle in case of need.
Officers were directed to perform security duties of foreign nationals diligently and ensure the provision of the necessary resources and facilities to the officers and subordinates under personal supervision.
