A Pakistan Army soldier embraced martyrdom following an attack on a check-post by terrorists in North Waziristan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa late Wednesday, the military said.
In a statement on Thursday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the terrorists fired at a military post located in the area.
"Our troops initiated a prompt response and effectively engaged the terrorists’ location," added the military's media wing.
However, it said, during the intense exchange of fire, Sepoy Hamid Ali, 28, resident of Sargodha having fought gallantly, embraced martyrdom.

The ISPR further said, "Sanitisation of the area is being carried out to eliminate any terrorists found in the area."
Lauding the sacrifices of the brave soldiers, it said the Pakistan Army is "determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism".
Nearly two weeks ago, a soldier was martyred when an army convoy was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED) in the neighbourhood of Makeen, South Waziristan district.
In the same month, six people were martyred, including three soldiers and as many children, in a suicide blast in the vicinity of Miranshah, North Waziristan.
