Women police station introduces day care, reporting room for women, transpersons

PESHAWAR:

Capital City Police on Tuesday inaugurated a gender protection unit inside the women police station in police lines.

A day care centre for the children of arrested women, a reporting room for women and transgender persons and a modern lock-up is part of the unit.

The first-ever gender protection unit of the province was inaugurated by CCPO Ijaz Khan and representatives of Group Development Pakistan. A new building has been specially constructed for it.

Talking on the occasion CCPO Ijaz Khan said that they believe in quickly solving the problems faced by women in the society and all resources were being utilized in this regard.

He said that policewomen had been deployed at Police Access Lines (PAL) and there were women in Dispute Resolution Councils (DRCs). He hoped that the establishment of the gender protection unit would enhance the performance of the women police and women will be able to access it in a better way now.

“There is a day care unit is also part of those women who would come to the police station for help as well as those women who are arrested in connection of different cases,” he said.

Offices for SHO, residential barracks are also part of the building.
