The Rawalpindi district administration has approved fair price shops across the Rawalpindi district.

The fair shops will have flour, wheat, sugar, ghee and other basic commodities at subsidised rates.

According to the district administration, leading grocery shops in the markets will be declared as fair shops where subsidised commodities will be available.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the price control committee has been convened this week to discuss new prices of daily use commodities including pulses, sugar, flour, ghee, rice, bread, milk and meat. The new prices will be determined in consultation with all stakeholders including retailers, trade associations, butchers and the Naanbai association.

Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner Tahir Farooq has also issued orders to shopkeepers across the district to display large panaflex as well as a price list of all commodities at prominent locations. All assistant commissioners have been directed to visit their respective jurisdictions and check rate lists.

Grocery Merchant Association President Saleem Pervaiz Butt said, "From today onwards, all retailers would show price and discount lists in shops and stores as per the district administration's directive.
