A dacoit was killed and a policeman was injured during a police encounter in Surjani Town.

According to details, two dacoits were fleeing after robbing a citizen in Khuda Ki Basti area on Saturday when a police party on patrol reached the spot. Seeing the police, the accused opened fire and tried to escape.

An exchange of fire took place in which one of the accused was killed while his accomplice fled from the scene.

A policeman received a gun shop in the arm in the firing.

The body of the slain accused and the injured officer were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. The dead robber could not be identified immediately.

Raids are being carried out at various places in search of the accomplice of the dead accused.

Injured in firing incidents

Eleven people, including a man and his son, were injured in firing incidents in the city on Saturday.

According to details, 40-year-old Amanullah son of Abdul Karim was injured in a firing incident in Saif-ul-Murree Goth, Sarjani Town.

The injured informed the police that armed men were trying to rob him but he resisted on which the robbers opened fire and injured him.

Zeeshan, 32, son of Jabbar, was injured in firing by unknown persons in Nasir Colony area of Korangi. Injured told that he was on the roof of his house when a bullet fired from an unknown direction hit him.

Saqib Rehman and Irfan were injured during a fight in Future Colony area of Landhi. Both were shifted to Jinnah Hospital.

Abdul Razzaq, 50, and his son Shehzad, 22, were injured during an altercation in Zebo Goth area of Manghopir. They were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Two armed men tried to rob a citizen identified as Dilawar, 25, son of Muhammad Bahadur near Karachi Medical Centre. Dilawar offered resistance on which robbers opened fire injuring him seriously. The accused escapes from the scene.

Sachal SHO, Inspector Aurangzeb Khattak claimed that police began search for the accused and finally succeeded to locate them. Seeing the police, the accused opened fire on police as well. The police returned the fire and arrested one of the accused, Ghulam Rasool in injured condition.

Police recovered arms, motorcycle and other valuables from possession of accused. Raids are being conducted to nab his accomplices.
