Sony is striving to bring more PlayStation titles and franchises to PC and mobile, as a way to build the company’s gaming audience across multiple platforms.

Sony Interactive Entertainment President Jim Ryan said in an investor presentation that "By FY 25, almost half of our new release line up will come from PC and mobile”.

In the last two years, Sony has published three first-party PS4 games on PC, which helped the company make $80 million in PC net sales for fiscal 2021. For the year 2022, Sony is estimating that PC sales will hit $300 million.

Ryan added that "We have big plans for FY22 and beyond with exponential growth anticipated in the year just begun". By 2025, the company is aiming on operating 12 live service franchises. He elaborated, "This represents the biggest opportunity, but also the biggest challenge to growing the size of the PlayStation community to something significantly bigger than what we enjoy today".

Sony has been extremely active in mergers and acquisitions when it announced it was buying Destiny developer Bungie for $3.6 billion.
