ISLAMABAD:

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while underscoring the government’s efforts to create business-friendly opportunities, has invited new Japanese companies to capitalise on such opportunities and make investment in Pakistan.

The prime minister, in a meeting with Japan Ambassador Mitsuhiro Wada on Friday, assured him that Pakistan government would extend all possible facilitation to the Japanese investors.

Conveying Pakistan’s resolve to elevate the bilateral relationship to new heights, the premier emphasised the importance of deepening bilateral cooperation, especially in the areas of trade, development, education, IT, climate change and infrastructure.

During the course of conversation, views were exchanged on further strengthening the existing Pakistan-Japan bilateral relationship.

The PM pointed out that year 2022 was being observed as the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two nations.

He appreciated the special events being organised to commemorate the landmark occasion, which were a reflection of the special relationship that Pakistan enjoyed with Japan.

The PM particularly appreciated Japan International Cooperation Agency’s (JICA) ongoing programmes and contribution for supporting socio-economic and development sectors in Pakistan.

Underlining the need to maintain the high-level exchanges, the PM extended an invitation to Japan Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to visit Pakistan at an early date.

The Japanese ambassador recalled the longstanding bilateral cooperation with Pakistan in diverse fields and expressed his government’s commitment to working together for the achievement of shared goals and objectives.
