LAHORE:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has alleged that police and PML-N goons attacked a former PTI councillor Faisal Abbas who died after falling from a bridge at Batti Chowk during the Haqeeqi Azadi March on Wednesday.

Speaking to the media after attending the funeral of Abbas on Thursday, PTI Punjab President Shafqat Mahmood highlighted police ASP along with the ruling party’s goons attacked PTI workers.

Police violence against peaceful protestors put a big question mark on the judicial system of the country.

“If our courts award punishment to culprits of Model Town tragedy this would not happen with unarmed and peaceful protestors of the PTI,” he maintained.

He underscored that peaceful protest is a democratic right of every citizen but the ruling party is trying to snatch public rights provided in the constitution.

He demanded that Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has to be answerable for all his actions. An illegal and incompetent chief minister has been imposed in Punjab. He announced that his party would register FIRs against police officials and “Gullu Butts” of the ruling party.

He highlighted that Abbas has young daughters and the party will take care of his family and children. “Police officials should keep in mind that current rulers would not stay in power forever. The blood of PTI workers will not go waste,” he remarked.

“Wednesday’s police violence against peaceful protestors had shown the real face of present rulers. Police in connivance with PML-N goons attacked public property in broad daylight following the directives of Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shehbaz.”

Mahmood said the deputy commissioner, DIG operations and other officers should not involve in illegal acts on the directions of the government. Registration of cases even after torturing PTI leaders and workers was highly condemnable.
