Chief Secretary Balochistan, Abdul Aziz Uqaili Wednesday visited the border town of Chaman to review the anti-polio campaign. “Government is committed to eradicating the poliovirus from the country,” Uqaili said. Commissioner Quetta Division, Sohailur Rehman and Deputy Commissioner Chaman, Captain (R) Jumadad Mandokhail received the CS upon his arrival.
In Balochistan anti-polio campaign is underway like in other parts of the country. Over 2.6 million children would be administered anti-polio drops during the campaign in all 34 districts. The CS noted that the crippling virus only exists in Pakistan and Afghanistan as the entire world has eliminated it.
“Poliovirus eradication is our responsibility,” he said. So far Balochistan has not reported any polio cases during the current year. However, Chaman, Killa Abdullah, Pishin, and Quetta are considered to be the most virusprone districts across Balochistan.
The CS visited various basic health units and paid a visit to the PakAfghan border to witness the anti-polio campaign at the border.
