Indian television is about to get a lot more Pakistani content! Zindagi channel will now be available on Indian TV, with drama serials such as Zindagi Gulzar Hai set to enthral the nation’s audiences. The service will also offer other hit Pakistani serials such as Kitni Girhain Baaki Hain, Aunn Zara and Sadqay Tumhare.

According to Hindustan Times, Chief Creative Officer of Zee Special Projects reflected on the move, saying, “What started as a salient idea between a few people deeply invested in the belief of cross border cultural collaborations grew to become one of the most loved television channels in the country.”

She added, “Zindagi took its journey ahead on OTT fueling the digital consumption needs in the country, and the community of believers continued to grow."

The line-up also includes Saba Qamar and Naumaan Ijaz’s latest offering, Mrs. and Mr. Shameem, which originally aired on ZEE5. Zindagi Gulzar Hai made Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed household names in India. Fawad has also starred in Bollywood films, including Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Kapoor and Sons as well as Khoobsurat. Cross-border collaboration between artists ended after right-wing groups in India barred any Pakistani from performing in the country, effectively banning them from the Indian entertainment industry.

Pakistan has also imposed a ban on Indian films following political turmoil between the two nations. However, Pakistani artists have continued to be popular in India, with web series such as Sarwat Gilani’s Churails and Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam being produced and streamed on Zee’s streaming service, ZEE5.
