ISLAMABAD:

An emergency meeting of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Board of Directors (BoDs) remained inconclusive as the moot could not decide on the appointment of the chief executive officer (CEO).

The meeting presided over by PIA Chairman Aslam Khan mulled over different names for the key post.

The BoDs expressed their reservations, saying forwarding final names for the national flag carrier’s top position to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in the current political situation was a difficult task.

According to sources, the BoDs had to final three names out of seven and send them to the premier. However, despite a long sitting, a consensus could not be reached.

The meeting mulled over the names of Air Vice Marshal Noor Abbas, Acting Chief Operating Officer Amanullah Qureshi, PIA’s former chief financial officer Nayyar Hayat and Faisal Malik for the post.

The position of the CEO has been lying vacant after Air Marshal Arshad Malik completed his three-year tenure on April 25.

Air Vice Marshal Aamir Hayat is currently working as the acting PIA CEO.
