Team Joyland has finally arrived in France where they will walk the coveted red carpet of the 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival. While filmmaker Saim Sadiq and actor Sana Jafri were already at the French Riviera, the rest of the team has now joined them too, as they near the screening of their film. Actors Sania Saeed and Sarwat Gilani shared pictures of their arrival on social media.

Gilani took to Instagram stories to share her airport look as she reached Cannes. She looked stunning clad in a denim outfit paired with a black crop top.

She’s there with her husband, actor Fahad Mirza, who later shared a video of them hanging out with the whole cast and crew of Joyland.

Saeed also took to the media sharing app to share her ID card for the prestigious festival and wrote, “Here we go!” She tagged the whole team along with actors Hajra Yamin and Yasra Rizvi.

The category for feature films at Cannes only takes in a limited number of 14 films and it is a moment of incredible pride that a Pakistani film made the cut — that too for the first time in history! The film also features a transgender in a lead role.

Jafri, who is starring in the feature film alongside actor Ali Junejo, took to Instagram with a screenshot from Cannes official website that displayed their film’s name in the category ‘Uncertain Regard’. Talking about making history, she wrote, “Yeah guys, this is real. It has happened, history has been created again. This is the first Pakistani feature film at Festival De Cannes!”

While Saim has reached a bigger, new feat this year, this is not the first time he has made the country proud. His short film, Darling, won in the Best Short Film category at the La Biennale di Venezia last year.
