HYDERABAD/KARACHI:

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that Shaheed Benzirabad police have arrested main accused of journalist Shaheed Aziz Memon murder case in successful raid in the desert area on Friday.

Memon's body was found dumped in a waterway in February, 2020, in Noshehro Feroze district. He was strangled with the cable of the mic of his news television channel. The police arrested six suspects after the murder but the prime accused remained at large.

Sharjeel commended police for the successful raid at a village on Pakistan-India border. "Owing to sandy terrain, police used camels to reach the village where the suspect Mushtaq Sehto was living under fake identity."

Talking to a TV channel, Sharjeel Memon rejected the reports of any pressure on the heirs of Shaheed Aziz Memon for withdrawing the case and termed it incorrect information. He said that rumors were spread to politicize the case.

To another question, Sharjeel said that instead of criticizing, police should be appreciated for pursuing the case for two and a half years and finally being successful in arresting the main suspect.

Meanwhile at a press conference held in Nawabshah, SSP Amir Saud Magsi said the man who allegedly killed Abdul Aziz Memon was living with a fake identity in a village in Khairpur district.
