LAHORE: The dengue fever revisited Punjab as 47 new cases of the virus were reported in the province in the last two days, reported Express 24/7.

Thirty-nine of these cases were reported in Lahore alone, while a total of 268 cases of the fever were reported all over Punjab in the last few days.

The residents of Lahore are the most affected by the outbreak, and healthcare experts have warned of a dengue epidemic in the province if urgent and solid preventive steps are not taken by the concerned authorities.

In the last 24 hours, 39 cases of dengue were reported in Lahore, two in Faisalabad and four in Sargodha.

Owing to the rising number of dengue cases in the city, all teaching hospitals in Lahore have established special counters for dengue patients in their emergency departments on the instructions of the Health Department.

According to health experts, active monitoring and surveillance of mosquitoes is necessary to keep a check on spread of the dengue virus.

I think Musharraf is behind these outbreaks. The democratic government should drop the Bhutto murder case against him and register a dengue spreading case.
