QUETTA:

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Quddus Bizenjo had a no-confidence motion submitted against him to the provincial assembly with the backing of a few MPAs from his own party, the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP).

PTI parliamentary leader in the Balochistan Assembly Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind filed the no-confidence motion.

Rind was accompanied by BAP leader and former Balochistan chief minister Jam Kamal Alyani and ANP parliamentary leader Asghar Khan Achakzai.

The motion carries the signatures of 14 lawmakers of the provincial assembly. Apart from Rind, Alyani and Achakzai, the other MPAs included Zahoor Buledi (BAP), Mohammad Arif (BAP), Saleem Ahmed (BAP), Malik Naeem Bazai (ANP), Nawabzada Tariq Magsi (BAP), Mitta Khan Kakar (BAP), Bibi Fareeda (PTI), Mir Naimatullah Zehri (PTI), Mobeen Khan (PTI), Sardar Sarfaraz Chakar Domki (BAP) and Shaheena (ANP).

Speaking on the occasion, PTI’s Rind said this was their political right and exercising it.

“We enjoy the support of all political parties in the removal of CM Bizenjo. Our numbers are complete. It is only a matter of time,” he added.

Later while addressing a new conference, Rind said they had no "personal issues" with Bizenjo, adding that their problem was with his administration and style of governance.

Rind claimed that there were issues of law and order, corruption and examples of bad governance in the current set-up. He added that former chief minister Alyani’s government seemed "like an angel” to them in comparison with the current one.

He said differences with the former chief minister were with the pace of work but there were not any questions about his honesty or corruption.

Earlier speaking to the media outside the Balochistan Assembly, Alyani said they had decided to remove this chief minister through a vote of no-confidence.

Bizenjo had played a crucial role in the removal of Alyani as the chief minister of Balochistan in October 2021. At that time, Bizenjo was the speaker of the Balochistan Assembly. Alyani had quit his post when a similar no-trust motion had been filed against him.

Giving reasons for the no-trust motion against the CM Bizenjo, Alyani claimed that everything had been “ruined” by this government.

He further maintained that the development projects and what he claimed to be “pro-people projects” initiated by his government were suspended by the incumbent CM.

There was no lawmaker from the opposition parties including JUI-F and Akhtar Mengal-led Balochistan National Party (BNP-M) present during the submission of the no-confidence motion against the CM Bizenjo.

"We are in contact with component parties of the Pakistan Democratic Movement [PDM]", Alyani said. He added that the PDM would support this no-confidence motion.

BAP has 24 lawmakers in the House of 65 and seven of its members have signed the no-confidence motion against the Balochistan chief minister.
