The Punjab government has mobilised the provincial and district disaster management authorities to prevent any emergency situation during the ongoing nationwide heatwave.
Punjab health department sources stated on Saturday that all hospitals and emergency services were on high alert, temporary drinking water spots had been set up and initial response centres had been established to facilitate people.
People were urged to follow the advisories issued by the health department and adopt precautionary measures to protect themselves from hot weather, heat exhaust, heatstroke and sunburn. The health department appealed to people to complete outdoor work in the early morning, wear loose, light-coloured clothing, avoid unnecessary exposure to heat, rest under shade, avoid hard work during hot weather, wear sunglasses, avoid sitting in a car directly under the sun, avoid leaving children in locked cars, avoid long gaps in meals, drink water and wear head coverings while going outdoors.
The advisory also urged the people to rush to hospital in case of fever, vomiting, palpitation, high pulse, headaches and profuse sweating.
