70-year-old dies in fireworks factory blast

Explosion caused the building roof to collapse

KURIANWALA:

A 70-year-old man, Allah Datta, died during a blast in a fireworks factory on Friday.

Datta had been going about his routine work when one of the items in the factory exploded.

The explosion was so powerful that it caused the roof of the factory to collapse, burying the victim under its rubble.

It took the rescue team several hours to retrieve his body from under the rubble.

Datta was a resident of 229 RB Chishtian Nagar.

Police said they had been looking for the owner of the factory, Rana Nadir, who seemed to have gone into hiding after the incident.

The factory was located in Yasin Chowk off Juranwala Road.

The SHO of Saddar, Syed Iram Raza Shah, personally worked along with Rescue 1122 staff in clearing the wreckage.

As soon as the blast was reported, the SP of Iqbal Town, Muhammad Nabil, along with other police personnel and bomb disposal unit staff, rushed to the spot to take part in the relief operation.
