Tax broadening drive continues in Hazara

PESHAWAR:

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) registration and awareness drive continued in Hazara division for the third consecutive day as dozens of new businesses were brought under the tax net.

The team launched the drive on Wednesday in Haripur and spent two days there where they visited business premises of service providers located in Haripur and Khanpur.

Mobile registration camps were set up for easy access of the unregistered service providers and the field teams visited each and every marketplace to provide on-the-spot registration facility to the unregistered businesses.

KPRA Deputy Collector Registration and his team were present at the camps to assist the visitors in issues relating to sales tax on services.

On Friday, the team set up their camp at Nathia Gali Bazar and spent the day visiting business premises in Nathia Gali.

KPRA Additional Collector Northern Region Umar Arshad Khan visited business premises with the field teams in Haripur and assured the newly registered service providers of his complete support in making the returns filing easier for them.

“Under the K-P Finance Act 2013 every service provider has to register his/her business with KPRA and make tax compliance,” he said, adding that there were some registered service providers who were not registered and to bring them under the tax net they are providing the registration facility at their doorsteps.

“We are very thankful to USAID-KPRM for assisting KPRA in conducting the drive,” he said in his statement, adding that service providers should avail the opportunity and get registration in the two weeks long drive and start regular tax payments to avoid enforcement measures which the authority will have to take to make sure that the law is followed in letter and spirit.

He thanked the people of Haripur and Nathia Gali for welcoming the teams of KPRA.

The drive will be concluded by the end of the coming week and teams will visit the areas of Manshera, Naran, Kaghan, Batakundi and Balakot during the drive. The team will spend Saturday and Sunday in Mansehra and will set up their camps from where they will move to Naran.

Under the Finance Act 2013, sales tax on services is mandatory for every business owner providing services in the province.
