The provincial government has decided to regularize all the employees of the Workers Welfare Board (WWB) in three phases.
Talking to a delegation of WWB, provincial minister Shaukat Yousafzai said that the government had no intention to fire any government employee, adding that as per the directives of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, these employees will be reguarlised in three phases.
Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif was also present on this occasion.
“The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has regularized employees of different departments in large numbers and the government has decided to adopt a five-step policy for WWB employees too,” he said.
“Let me assure you that the court order will be followed completely,” he shared, adding that no employee will be fired from job as per the government policy. He assured that all the steps will be taken after consultation with the WWB delegation.
The minister said that a committee has been formed comprising deputy secretary labour, a WWB representative and he himself and it has been tasked with putting forward recommendations for the regularization.
Talking on the occasion Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif said that the regularization process will be completed as soon as possible. He maintained that the government was committed to solving this problem.
Merger of Malakand Levies
The sub-committee of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Cabinet has decided to adopt a phase-wise approach on the merger of Malakand Levies with police force. The cabinet has already approved the merger.
The committee agreed with the proposal of provincial Minister for Public Health Engineering (PHE) Shakeel Ahmad Khan to implement the merger in phases instead of one-go.
A meeting of the sub-committee was held on Friday with provincial Minister for Law Fazal Shakoor Khan in the chair. Secretary Home and Tribal Affairs Khushal Khan and other officials also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the secretary gave a detailed briefing on the merger of Malakand Levies with the police force and revealed all matters related to it. Various proposals also came under discussion at the meeting.
Presenting his proposals in the meeting, Shakeel Ahmad Khan pointed out that most of the personnel of Malakand Levies are highly educated and qualified and their promotions are affected due to the delay in the merger.
He said they should be given an option to either remain in Malakand Levies or merge with the police force.
He said that investigation process was obsolete in the levies, which was a main hurdle in the prevention of crimes.
Therefore, he proposed to appoint an SP Investigation in Malakand as soon as possible to solve the problem.
He said that peace in the province had been restored after huge sacrifices by the law enforcement agencies and general public and stressed that Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) should be established in the district to deal with terrorism cases in the future.
The provincial minister further informed the meeting that the salaries of the police and Malakand Levies were equal therefore, in case of merger no additional expenses will be incurred by the provincial government.
