Full of blood, gore and lots of zombies, the first trailer for Netflix’s Resident Evil series is finally out. The series is set to star local heartthrob Ahad Raza Mir. While there is no sign of the actor in the teaser, there’s plenty of other inviting details to get audiences hooked. The eight-episode zombie drama will be a time-hopping survival thriller, with a group of youngsters fighting for their lives against a host of the undead.

The teaser shows snippets of the horror extravaganza at hand, with the storyline alternating between modern-day New Raccoon City and a future zombie-infested London in 2036.

Mir took to Instagram to share the teaser, writing in the caption, “Nothing eventful ever happens in the peaceful New Raccoon City. The legendary franchise Resident Evil brings its battle for survival to Netflix on July 14th.”

The reboot will build on the hit survival video game franchise, which also includes a series of Hollywood films starring actor Mila Jovovich. The official synopsis of the Netflix series reads, “Year 2036 – 14 years after a deadly virus sparked a global apocalypse, Jade Wesker fights to survive in a world overrun by bloodthirsty infected and insane creatures.” It continues, “In this carnage, Jade is haunted by her New Raccoon City past, her father's connection to the Umbrella Corporation, but most importantly, what happened to her sister, Billie.”

The details of Mir’s character are currently being kept under wraps. The actor took to Instagram in March to share a poster of the series, captioning it with, “Evil has evolved. Resident Evil spreads to Netflix,” to announce his role in the thriller.
