A teenager stabbed his stepmother when she offered namaz at their home near RCD Ground in Saudabad. Police arrested the accused and recovered the murder weapon, a big kitchen knife he had bought for the purpose.
Saudabad police station SHO Khalid Memon said they had received a message from 15 Police Helpline that a man named Inam has informed that his sister has been killed. Inam was he victim's brother.
When police arrived at the scene, they found a woman's blood-soaked body lying on a bed on the ground floor room of the house. She was identified as 39-year-old Azra Kamran.
Khalid Memon said that bloodstains were also found on the stairs leading to the first floor when he inspected the scene.
Police arrested the victim's stepson Zain, 17, on a charge of murder and recovered the murder weapon. Khalid Memon said that the victim's husband, Kamran, works in a foam manufacturing company. His first wife died a few years ago, and he got married to Azra three months back.
The victim was a divorced woman and was married in Punjab. Kamran has three children from his first wife, of whom the arrested accused Zain is the eldest son. According to the preliminary investigation, the accused Zain had killed his stepmother due to a domestic dispute, and the sharp instrument (knife) with which he killed was bought by the accused for Rs600. Police recovered the knife.
The accused attacked his stepmother with a sharp instrument while she was offering namaz. After gathering evidence from the scene, police rushed the body to Jinnah Hospital for post-mortem examination and handed over the body to heirs. Police are investigating the incident further.
