ISLAMABAD:

Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal on Thursday announced to restart work on the state-of-the-art cancer hospital in Islamabad which was shelved by the previous government.

The minister made this announcement via a twitter stating that the cancer hospital in Islamabad will be revived soon.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="ur" dir="rtl">اس منصوبے کو بحال کیا جائیگا انشاءاللہ <a href="https://t.co/ooRc9xbTkT">https://t.co/ooRc9xbTkT</a></p>&mdash; Ahsan Iqbal (@betterpakistan) <a href="https://twitter.com/betterpakistan/status/1524675378803056640?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">May 12, 2022</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

The 200-bed cancer hospital was approved by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government during its previous stint in power. At that time, the government had also sanctioned Rs5 billion under the Public Sector Development Programme.

The cancer hospital was supposed to benefit 7,000 poor patients annually. The previous Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government scrapped the project in 2019. The first-ever state-of-the-art project was fully ready for launch and PWD had also prepared the design for the construction of the building by allocating space on the premises of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences.

Ahsan Iqbal has said that the PTI government shelved several public interest projects initiated by the PML-N government. He said that the incumbent government will revive all pending projects in the best interest of the public.

test | 2 years ago | Reply Well there is bigger problem than cancer which is economy. And who cause that cancer are our elites policy makers corrupt businessmen politicians and those who are against our homeland. Can we just imagine the fifth most populous country in the world with exports of just 25 billion USD. It s absolutely ridiculous. I don t know but i think we are on a plane economy that is about to crash but in order to survive we are looking to balance our plane and to land it somewhere even when its engines money are lost and the chances are 50 50 that its passengers people will survive. And the plane will land with strong policy making strong pilot experience and decision making at leadership leadership of both pilots which gives 100 priority to economy for the time being. And then our chances to land will be 100 .
